Their durability doesn’t come at the expense of comfort either; with the EVA foam midsole in play these boots were easy on my feet when the terrain was not. By removing the traditional external face fabric breathability is maximised while sweat accumulation and weight is reduced. The midsole is made of EVA foam for ‘stability and comfort’, while EVA foam pods are also located in the rearfoot and forefoot for extra cushioning. They were true to size for me, there was no rubbing or discomfort anywhere, and I was immediately eager to get out in them.Molded EVA midsole and dual density EVA inserts on the back and forefoot create a stable and comfortable midsole. I also liked the higher levels of cushioning under the foot, reminiscent of a trail running shoe, which gave me a slight spring in my step.

The upper of the shoe is made from a waterproof full-grain leather combined with a ballistic, breathable mesh lining, while the tongue has a ‘bellow’ design – a wide-folding tongue attached at the sides to the upper – to keep debris (and water) out. It scores points not just because of its long lifespan, but also because of its outstanding grip and traction which is down to its 5 mm stud depth. The ideal pair would have a reliable membrane to keep water out, an outsole that could shed mud while gripping slick surfaces, and be comfortable enough for long days on the trail.
